Having the Housing First mindset results in no limits with efforts towards getting people off of the street expediently. The continuum and duration of services offered enable resources to be available on an ongoing basis to meet the mass needs even beyond re-housing. Safe housing is a basic necessity & it's the jumping point to ending homelessness that's so pervasive.
Even among the thousands who are on 'skid row', many feel that they are walking all alone trying to make it on their own. Meanwhile, there are an exorbitant amount of funds generated for various purposes, such as large campaigns, private business venture capital expansion, as well as individuals who spend in frivolous ways. Imagine if that money was redirected to a worthy cause like this -- homelessness. It means that the community should be involved in sending cash donations as well as goods and services at a summit level of fundraising that could literally transform lives by transitioning homeless persons directly into sheltered situations. So we'd be able to go beyond the typical drop of a few coins in a tin can or giving a sandwich with a drink to putting house keys into their hands for a space that is retrofitted and fully functional to begin living in on-the-spot with basic needs met.
